King attends military drill

His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, attended a military exercise carried out on Thursday by the King Hussein Bin Ali Brigade, on the occasion of the Kingdom's 71st Independence Day.

King Abdullah was received upon his arrival at the site of the drill by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat and the brigade’s commander, Brig. Gen. Yasser Manasir

His Majesty was briefed by Manasir on the drill’s various phases, which included live fire exercises utilising different weapons and vehicles, and combat in urban areas supported by aerial cover from the Royal Jordanian Air Force and the Special Operations air forces.

Prime Minister Hani Mulki, Senate President Faisal Fayez, Speaker of the House of Representatives Atef Tarawneh, Royal Hashemite Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Constitutional Court President Taher Hikmat, Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan, Royal Hashemite Court Secretary General Yousef Issawi, heads of security agencies, and a number of ministers, lawmakers, senior officers, and secretaries general of political parties also attended the drill.
