King receives senior officials participating in meeting hosted by Jordan for Syria’s neighbouring countries
His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday received representatives of Syria, Turkey, Iraq and Lebanon participating in a high-level meeting for Syria’s neighbouring countries, hosted by Jordan.
During the meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace and attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, His Majesty affirmed Jordan’s support of Syria’s efforts to preserve its security, stability, territorial integrity, and to protect its citizens.
Discussions during the meeting covered the importance of practical coordination between Syria and its neighbouring countries on regional security challenges, particularly in relation to countering terrorism, maintaining border security, and halting drug and arms trafficking, and other shared concerns.
The King emphasised the need to create suitable conditions for the voluntary and safe return of Syrian refugees to their country, to enable them to contribute to the rebuilding process.
The meeting was attended by foreign ministers, defence ministers, chiefs of staff and directors of the intelligence agencies of Jordan, Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon.
