22 April 2018

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II on Sunday visited Creativity Club – Karak and Karak Castle in the southern governorate.

Crown Prince Al Hussein commended the club’s modern programs, calling for promoting its experience in other governorates to empower young Jordanians and harness their energies.

His Royal Highness toured the club, established in 2010, and was briefed on its programs, which cover technology, art, music, filmmaking, entrepreneurship, and other creative fields.

The Crown Prince was briefed by the club’s director, Hussam Tarawneh, on the club’s programs, aimed at honing the skills of Karak residents as young as five years old and until after graduating from university.

The club, a non-profit, seeks to reach a national level by establishing a specialized academy for innovation and creativity, with the goal of nurturing young talents and spreading the values of dialogue, equality, pluralism, acceptance of others, and justice.

In a press interview, Tarawneh said the club has trained nearly 10,000 young men and women since its establishment.

Club board member Salma Habashneh said her training at the club on entrepreneurship and project management qualified her to attend a leadership program at the US Georgetown University in 2015.

Board member Assem Maaytah said giving young people seats at the club’s board is a way to enable them to play a direct role in addressing the needs of their peers.

Also on Sunday, His Royal Highness visited Karak Castle, one of Jordan’s major archeological sites and national landmarks, and spoke to a number of tourists there.

According to Karak Mayor Ibrahim Karaki, the seven-story castle is built on an area of 35 dunums, and receives around 1.2 million visitors annually.

Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas accompanied the Crown Prince on the visit.
