King performs Eid Al Fitr prayer, receives well-wishers
His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday joined worshippers in performing Eid Al Fitr prayer at Al Hashemiya Mosque in Amman.
King Abdullah and the worshippers listened to the Eid sermon by Royal Hashemite Court Imam Sheikh Ghaleb Rababah, who highlighted Islam’s teachings of love, solidarity, moderation, and tolerance.
Rababah also stressed the importance of honouring one’s parents and maintaining ties of kinship, calling for continuing the good deeds practised in the holy month of Ramadan.
Noting the blessings of stability and security in Jordan, he saluted the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, and members of security agencies for their role in defending the country.
King Abdullah, upon arrival at the mosque, had been received by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat at a ceremony that included a 21-gun salute.
A number of royal family members and senior officials and officers also welcomed His Majesty.
Also on Sunday, the King received Eid well-wishers at Al Husseiniya Palace.
Royal family members, former prime ministers, lawmakers, senior officials and officers, Islamic scholars, Christian clerics, and community leaders from the governorates were among the well-wishers.
Eid Al Fitr is the Muslim feast marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.
