King receives delegation from US House’s Foreign Affairs Committee
His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday received a delegation from the Foreign Affairs Committee of the US House of Representatives, led by Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Florida).
The meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace and attended by His Royal Highness Prince Feisal bin Al Hussein, covered current regional developments and means to boost the US-Jordanian partnership in all domains.
Discussions also addressed the challenges posed by regional crises to the Jordanian economy, particularly the Syrian refugee crisis.
King Abdullah expressed appreciation for US economic support, which enables Jordan to face such burdens and carry out development plans and programmes.
In addition, the meeting covered the peace process, with His Majesty stressing the need for intensive efforts to relaunch serious and effective negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis based on the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Discussions also dealt with developments in the Syrian crisis and efforts to reach a political solution through the Geneva process, as well as regional and international efforts to fight terrorism.
Royal Hashemite Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh and Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan also attended the meeting.
