King attends gendarmerie drill

His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, visited a training facility affiliated with the General Directorate of Gendarmerie on Monday and met with its director, Maj. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh.

Discussions covered a number of security and regulatory issues of concern to the directorate.

Hawatmeh also briefed His Majesty on the measures taken by the directorate to enhance the competence and readiness of its personnel.

Moreover, the King attended a military exercise implemented by a number of gendarmerie units. The drill featured counterterrorism techniques and mock raids in urban zones using live ammunition.

His Majesty also observed a mock operation by a high-level gendarmerie unit, trained and equipped under royal directives with state-of-the-art gear to function as a quick response force to various security incidents.

The King praised the advanced level of the gendarmerie directorate, and the skills and readiness of its personnel.
