Royal Decree appoints Tal as Constitutional Court president

A Royal Decree has been issued, appointing Hisham Tal as president of the Constitutional Court as of 6 October 2018, and appointing Akram Masaadeh and Mohammad Mahadin as members of the court as of 6 October 2018.

Under the Constitution and the Constitutional Court Law, members serve one, non-renewable six-year term in the court, which was established in 2012 in accordance with the 2011 constitutional amendments.

Thus, the constitutional and legal terms of former court president Taher Hikmat, and members Fahed Nsour, Ahmad Tbeishat, Kamel Saeed, Fuad Sweidan, Yousef Hmoud, Abdel Qader Toura, and Mohammad Ghazawi have concluded.

Court member Marwan Dudin passed away before the conclusion of his term.

Under the Constitutional Court Law, three new members are appointed every two years.

The court currently includes Mansour Hadidi, Numan Khatib, Mohammad Thweib, Mohammad Alawneh, Mohammad Mubaideen, Qasem Momani, and Fayez Hamarneh, in addition to the newly appointed members.
