9 October 2017

His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, visited the Public Security Directorate (PSD) and met with its director, Maj. Gen. Ahmad Sarhan Faqih, on Monday.

King Abdullah expressed his pride in PSD personnel and voiced appreciation for their major role in safeguarding the nation’s security, stability, and achievements.

His Majesty stressed that the relationship between PSD personnel and citizens should be based on mutual respect, noting that the PSD protects citizens and their dignity, and upholds the rule of law.

Commenting on what happened recently in Irbid, the King said it is an isolated incident that does not represent security agencies, asserting that all who violate the law must be held accountable.

Safeguarding the nation’s achievements is everyone’s responsibility, His Majesty affirmed, stressing that any attempt to undermine these achievements is unacceptable.

The King asserted that security agencies must be exemplary in respecting and upholding the law.

Affirming the importance of continued training for PSD personnel to build their capacities and enable them to undertake their duties efficiently, His Majesty voiced his confidence in the ability of PSD personnel to fight crime and maintain the state’s hegemony.

The King was briefed by Faqih on the latest security developments and the PSD’s plans and measures to enhance security services offered to citizens and residents, as well as its efforts to fight crime.

Also during the visit, His Majesty, at the Command and Control Centre, observed a number of police exercises conducted separately by the Anti-Narcotics Department, the Royal Department for Environmental Protection (Rangers), and Preventive Security.

The drills utilised cutting-edge technology and were monitored at the Command and Control Centre via camera drones.
