King visits gendarmerie directorate’s Special Police Operations

His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, visited the General Directorate of the Gendarmerie’s Special Police Operations on Monday.

King Abdullah was received by General Directorate of the Gendarmerie Director Maj. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh, and the Special Police Operations chief.

During the visit, His Majesty met with delegates attending the Association of European and Mediterranean Gendarmeries and Police Forces with Military Status’ (FIEP) senior council meeting, hosted by the gendarmerie directorate in Amman from 15 to 18 October.

At the meeting, the King stressed the importance of solidifying partnerships among security and military institutions around the world, as well as uniting international efforts to counter extremism, fight terrorism, and combat crime.

His Majesty was briefed by Hawatmeh, in his capacity as FIEP president, on the organisation’s major achievements under Jordan’s presidency and its future plans and activities, aimed at enhancing cooperation and coordination among its members.

The King was also briefed on the General Directorate of the Gendarmerie’s strategies and programmes to build its capacities, as well as its cooperation and coordination with domestic and international institutions to be able to undertake its national role efficiently and professionally.

For their part, the chiefs and heads of delegation of security agencies attending the FIEP meeting commended His Majesty’s efforts to bolster security and stability in the region and the world, affirming their keenness to boost cooperation and coordination among military and security institutions on various international security issues.
