King visits Central Badia, says Jordan will remain strong

4 October 2021

His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday reaffirmed that Jordan is greatly respected and supported among neighbouring and friendly countries, and has a strong and influential role in the regional and international arenas.

During a meeting with representatives and leading figures from Central Badia tribes, King Abdullah said efforts to create internal discord in Jordan are still ongoing, pointing to a campaign against Jordan and efforts to sabotage progress and sow doubt.

His Majesty stressed that there is nothing being concealed, noting that Jordan will remain strong, as this is not the first time it has been targeted.

Addressing political modernisation, the King said this ongoing process will be accomplished through hard work and cooperation between the executive and legislative branches, underscoring the need for economic reforms in tandem to achieve desirable outcomes and bring about tangible results for the public.

His Majesty also highlighted the importance of administrative reform, mitigating economic pressure on the public, countering poverty and unemployment, and protecting groups and sectors impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The King urged the public to get vaccinated against COVID-19, to ensure a stable epidemiological situation that would help advance the national economy.

Discussing development in Central Badia, the King called for utilising the region’s vital location and its potential in agriculture and industry to attract investments.

His Majesty underscored the value of investments in jumpstarting the economy, achieving growth, and providing employment, calling for creating an investment-friendly environment, and removing obstacles faced by investors.

The King urged bolstering cooperation between the public and private sectors, referring to promising economic opportunities in coordination with a number of Arab countries, especially the positive impact expected from mega-projects between Jordan, Egypt and Iraq and reopening the borders with Syria.

The speakers stressed their steadfastness in the face of attempts to undermine Jordan and His Majesty, reaffirming support for the Hashemite leadership.

They commended the King’s continued outreach to the public, expressing appreciation of His Majesty’s pivotal role in defending the Palestinian cause and safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, under the Hashemite Custodianship.

They highlighted a number of concerns related to the Central Badia and the need to attract investments, in order to create jobs to counter poverty and unemployment.
