Hisham Tal was sworn in before His Majesty King Abdullah at Al Husseiniya Palace on Monday as president of the Constitutional Court.

Akram Masaadeh and Mohammad Mahadin were also sworn in before King Abdullah as members of the court.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi attended the swearing-in ceremony.

His Majesty also met with the outgoing president, Taher Hikmat, and former members of the Constitutional Court who have completed their terms, expressing appreciation for their efforts during years of service.

Under the Constitution and the Constitutional Court Law, members serve one, non-renewable six-year term in the court, which was established in 2012 in accordance with the 2011 constitutional amendments.

Under the court’s law, three new members are appointed every two years.
