King, Russian president exchange congratulations on 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties

His Majesty King Abdullah and Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a phone call on Tuesday, exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of Jordanian-Russian diplomatic ties.

In the phone call, King Abdullah and President Putin highlighted the advanced level of ties between the two countries, and their continuous development over the past decades in various areas.

The two leaders affirmed their keenness to continue strengthening cooperation, stressing the importance of maintaining coordination and consultation between Jordan and Russia on various issues, in the service of mutual interests and in pursuit of regional and global security and stability.

The phone call also covered regional developments and efforts to reach political solutions to crises in the region, as well as efforts underway to fight terrorism within a holistic approach.

President Putin expressed his condolences to the King over the Jordanian martyrs who were killed in the terrorist attack on a joint patrol unit from the Public Security Directorate and the General Directorate of the Gendarmerie in Fuheis city, and in a raid on the hideout of the terrorist cell behind it in Salt city.
