King receives Utah governor

His Majesty King Abdullah received Utah Governor Gary Herbert, his spouse, and an accompanying delegation of political and business figures from the American state at Al Husseiniya Palace on Sunday.

Discussions at the meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Prince Feisal bin Al Hussein, addressed the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States, as well as means to bolster cooperation between the Kingdom and the state of Utah in the fields of energy, water, investment, higher education, and cybersecurity.

Several ideas to expand commercial and investment cooperation between Jordan and the US state were also discussed.

The meeting covered current regional developments, especially efforts to push the peace process forward and reach political solutions to crises in the region.

In addition, discussions touched on the impact of the Syrian refugee crisis on Jordan’s economy, as well as regional and international efforts to fight terrorism.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh and Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan attended the meeting.

The delegation led by Utah Governor Herbert includes leading businesspeople from the state, and is holding a series of meetings with senior officials and Jordanian businesspeople to explore the potential for cooperation between Jordan and Utah, as well as the investment opportunities offered by the Kingdom’s economy.

Utah has achieved substantial growth in the transport, health, agriculture, and tourism sectors, as well as in the field of advanced app development.
