King receives UAE FM

His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday received United Arab Emirates Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan at Al Husseiniya Palace and discussed bilateral ties, as well as regional conditions.

King Abdullah affirmed Jordan’s keenness to build on its deep-rooted, historical ties with the UAE, and to expand cooperation in all areas.

During the discussions, which continued over lunch, the two sides underlined the high level of coordination and cooperation between Jordan and the UAE in their efforts to address regional crises and bring security, stability, and peace to the region, in the service of Arab causes and their mutual interests.

His Majesty expressed appreciation for the UAE, led by President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for its ongoing support for Jordan to enable it to implement development projects.

The King highlighted the importance of expanding Emirati investments in Jordan, noting the competitive edge offered by the Kingdom’s economy to investors in many vital sectors.

The meeting also covered crises and challenges in the region, and efforts to resolve them politically.

Turning to the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem, His Majesty stressed the importance of the upcoming Arab Summit in unifying and coordinating the Arab position in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Sheikh Abdullah commended Jordan’s role, led by the King, in the service of Arab and Islamic causes, as well as its efforts in pursuit of peace, security, and stability in the Middle East.

He stressed the UAE’s keenness to bolster cooperation with Jordan in various areas, in the service of mutual interests.

Sheikh Abdullah also noted Jordan’s important, strategic role in the region, and the UAE’s commitment to support the Kingdom to enable it to overcome economic challenges and implement development projects.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas, and UAE Ambassador to Jordan Mattar Saif Sulaiman Al Shamsi attended the meeting.
