King receives Russian president's special envoy

His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Envoy for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov over the latest developments in Syria. They discussed means to address the Syrian crisis in a way that guarantees Syria's unity and ends the suffering of its people.

At the meeting, which was attended by HRH Prince Feisal, His Majesty and Bogdanov underlined the importance of intensifying cooperation and coordination between Russia and the US regarding efforts exerted to reach an inclusive political solution to the conflict in Syria. Talks also addressed regional and international efforts in combating terrorism in line with a comprehensive strategy.

The Russian official expressed Moscow's appreciation for Jordan’s contributions to handling the Syrian refugee influx, and the humanitarian and relief aid it provides to Syrian refugees. He stressed Russia's support to all endeavours seeking to secure a safe return of the refugees to their country.

King’s Military Adviser and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Gen. Mashal Al Zaben and King’s Adviser on National Security Affairs and General Intelligence Department Director Gen. Faisal Shobaki attended the meeting.
