King receives NCHR’s 2017 report on human rights in Jordan

His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday received a copy of the National Centre for Human Rights’ (NCHR) 14th annual report on the status of human rights in Jordan for the year 2017.

King Abdullah stressed that respecting and upholding the law by all is the key guarantor of citizens’ rights and freedoms.

Receiving the chairman of the NCHR’s board of trustees, Mohammad Adnan Bakhit, at Al Husseiniya Palace, His Majesty affirmed the importance of cooperation among all institutions to implement the report’s recommendations and follow up on the observations it lists to enhance the status of human rights in the Kingdom.

The King expressed appreciation for the NCHR’s key role in safeguarding and bolstering human rights in the Kingdom, stressing the need to highlight Jordan’s efforts in this field.

At the meeting, Bakhit outlined the main human rights issues and challenges addressed in the report, and the recommended procedures to enhance human rights and freedoms.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas, NCHR Commissioner General Mousa Burayzat, and Government Human Rights Coordinator Basel Tarawneh attended the meeting.
