23 October 2017

His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday received Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne and an accompanying delegation at Al Husseiniya Palace.

The meeting covered cooperation between the two countries, which signed a statement to establish diplomatic ties last month.

King Abdullah thanked Antigua and Barbuda for backing Jordan’s nomination to the UNESCO Executive Board, for which the elections are slated for next month.

His Majesty also expressed Jordan’s sympathies with the victims and those badly affected by Hurricane Irma, which recently hit Antigua and Barbuda, as well as a number of Caribbean countries.

Discussions also addressed the latest regional developments, in addition to regional and international efforts in the fight against terrorism.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Antigua and Barbuda Charles Henry Fernandez attended the meeting.
