His Majesty King Abdullah and Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah on Wednesday received Princess Victoria, the Crown Princess of Sweden, and her husband, Prince Daniel, at Al Husseiniya Palace.

The meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, covered the strong ties of friendship between the two countries, and King Abdullah expressed keenness to expand cooperation with Sweden in various fields.

Discussions addressed a number of regional issues and crises, and efforts to resolve them politically, with His Majesty underscoring the integral role that the European Union and Sweden play in this regard.

The meeting also covered the latest developments in the Palestinian-Israeli peace process.

The King stressed the importance of reaching just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

In addition, discussions touched on the financial challenges facing UNRWA.

His Majesty expressed his appreciation of Swedish efforts in pushing the peace process forward, and offering support to UNRWA so that it continues to provide its education, health and relief services.

The meeting also addressed the burdens Jordan is shouldering due to hosting Syrian refugees.

Crown Princess Victoria commended Jordan’s archaeological and tourist sites and hospitality, noting that these advantages will attract a bigger number of Swedish tourists to Jordan.

Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas, Swedish Ambassador to Jordan Erik Ullenhag, and the accompanying Swedish delegation attended the meeting.
