King participates in trilateral summit with Egypt, Iraq in Baghdad
His Majesty King Abdullah, Egypt President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, and Iraq Prime Minister Mustafa Al Kadhimi on Sunday held the fourth trilateral summit between Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq, in Baghdad.
The summit, held at the Government Palace, covered enhancing cooperation in service of the countries’ shared interests and Arab causes. It also covered regional developments and means to bolster coordination and consultation on issues of mutual concern.
In remarks at the start of the summit, King Abdullah commended the increased level of coordination and the exchange of bilateral and trilateral visits.
His Majesty said cooperation must be stepped up between the three countries, reaffirming support for the people and government of Iraq.
The King expressed appreciation of Iraq’s hospitality, commending the determination of the Iraqi people and leadership to continue on the path of progress and development.
For his part, President El Sisi stressed Egypt’s commitment to the trilateral cooperation mechanism and giving it utmost priority, noting the importance of turning the prospects of cooperation into tangible results by way of implementing the agreed upon strategic projects.
President El Sisi commended Jordan’s and Iraq’s support for Egypt’s water rights as it faces challenges in this regard.
Iraq Prime Minister Mustafa Al Kadhimi said convening the summit sends a message of solidarity and cohesion among the three countries, in service of their peoples and those in the region.
Noting the challenges facing the region, Prime Minister Al Khadhimi said Iraq successfully fought terrorism and eliminated terrorist groups, adding that all three countries must work and coordinate together to counter shared challenges, in service of their peoples and the peoples of the region.
Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan, General Intelligence Department Director Maj. Gen. Ahmad Husni, and Jordan’s Ambassador to Iraq Montaser Oklah Alzoubi attended the summit.
