King meets Pakistan, Italy prime ministers

His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday met with Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on the sidelines of the 72nd Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.

The meeting covered means to enhance economic and military cooperation, and the importance of intensifying coordination in the fight against terrorism within a holistic strategy.

At a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni, discussions addressed ways to bolster economic cooperation, as well as the burdens Jordan is shouldering as a result of the Syrian refugee crisis.

The two sides stressed the importance of increasing international cooperation and coordination to fight terrorism from military, security, and ideological perspectives.

The Italian prime minister expressed his country’s appreciation for Jordan’s pivotal role, led by King Abdullah, in fighting terrorism and hosting Syrian refugees.

Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan, and Jordan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Sima Bahous attended the meetings.
