His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday met with Head of the Iraqi National Alliance Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim and an accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, held at Basman Palace, King Abdullah and Hakim discussed the latest developments in Iraq, amid Baghdad’s drive to root out terrorists in control of Iraqi areas.

For his part, Hakim highlighted the importance of Jordan's presidency of the Arab Summit, to be held in March next year, and its role in supporting pan-Arab causes, including Iraq’s efforts to restore stability and resume its role in Arab joint action.

The Iraqi leader outlined the efforts to achieve national reconciliation in Iraq, commending the Jordanian support, led by His Majesty, in this regard.

He stressed that the Iraqi government gives utmost importance to enhancing economic relations with Jordan, noting the need to secure border crossings and the highway that connects the two countries, as well as implementing the Aqaba-Basra oil pipeline.
