King meets chairman of US House subcommittee on Mideast, North Africa and international terrorism
His Majesty King Abdullah met on Saturday with Chairman of the Subcommittee on Middle East, North Africa and International Terrorism of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee Ted Deutch.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa, covered the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States.
King Abdullah expressed appreciation for the United States’ support for a number of development programmes in Jordan.
Regional issues, especially the peace process, were also discussed. His Majesty stressed the importance of stepping up efforts to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the two-state solution, arriving at the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The meeting also covered developments in the Syrian crisis and the burdens brought on by the Syrian refugee crisis on Jordan’s economy and its limited resources, in addition to regional and international efforts to counter terrorism within a holistic approach.
Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas and Jordan’s Ambassador in Washington, DC, Dina Kawar attended the meeting.
