King holds talks with Kuwait emir
His Majesty King Abdullah held talks on Tuesday with Kuwait Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah on cooperation between the two countries and the latest developments in the region.
The two leaders stressed the deep-rooted Jordanian-Kuwaiti ties and the need to bolster them in various domains, expressing their keenness to continue coordination and consultation on various regional issues, in order to serve the two countries’ shared interests and joint Arab action.
The talks, held at Dasman Palace, also covered regional developments and ways to reach political solutions to current crises, restoring security and stability to the region’s peoples.
King Abdullah expressed appreciation for Kuwait's support to Jordan, which has enabled the Kingdom to implement key projects in various vital sectors through grants and investments.
His Majesty also cited the assistance Kuwait extends to Jordan to mitigate the burden of hosting Syrian refugees.
The King also congratulated the Kuwaiti emir on his country's election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
Prime Minister Hani Mulki, Royal Hashemite Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat, Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan, Adviser to His Majesty and National Policies Council Rapporteur Abdullah Wreikat, and Jordan’s Ambassador to Kuwait Mohammad Kayed attended the meeting.
Sheikh Sabah hosted an iftar banquet in honour of His Majesty and the accompanying delegation, attended by senior Kuwaiti officials and officers.
Upon arrival at Kuwait International Airport, the King was received by the Kuwaiti emir and Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, as well as a number of senior Kuwaiti officials, and Jordan’s ambassador and embassy staff.
