His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday saluted Jordanian women in all sectors on the occasion of International Women’s Day, expressing pride in women in their key roles in the public and private sectors, and with their families.

During a teleconference meeting held with a group of leading Jordanian women, King Abdullah thanked women who fully carry out their duties in service of Jordan, including doctors, teachers, women in the military and others who have been working under an added burden during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the role of Jordanian mothers who raise generations and have been facilitating distance learning.

His Majesty noted the responsibilities that women shoulder in building the nation, reiterating the need to further empower women and enhance their participation in various fields to meet their and Jordan’s aspirations.

Women who participated in the meeting expressed their gratitude for the King’s continuous support for Jordanian women in all fields, underlining the need for further efforts to empower women in Jordan and enhance their contributions, particularly to the economy.

The attendees—who included distinguished Jordanian women from the public, private, development, military, academic and voluntary sectors—highlighted the additional challenges facing women due to COVID-19, stressing the ability of Jordanian women to strike a balance between their professional and family lives, and overcome challenges.
