King departs on working visit to US

His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday departed on a working visit to the United States, during which His Majesty is scheduled to participate in the latest round of the Aqaba Meetings, hosted by the United States in partnership with Jordan, to coordinate and follow up on international efforts to counter terrorism.

The Aqaba Meetings are a series of international meetings launched by King Abdullah in 2015 to bolster security and military cooperation, coordination and exchange of expertise among regional and international partners to counter terrorism within a holistic approach.

His Majesty is later due to head to London on an official visit to attend the London Initiative Conference, hosted by the United Kingdom to support Jordan’s economy.

His Majesty’s visit to the United Kingdom will also include meetings with British officials and lawmakers, as well as political and economic figures.

His Royal Highness Prince Ali bin Al Hussein was sworn in as Regent, in the presence of Cabinet members.
