King attends tactical exercise by PSD’s Investment Protection Unit

His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, attended on Monday a tactical training by the Public Security Directorate’s (PSD) Investment Protection Unit at the King Abdullah II Training City in Muwaqqar.

The Investment Protection Unit, formed upon royal directives, is in line with King Abdullah’s efforts to attract investments by highlighting Jordan’s secure, investment-friendly environment, governed by the rule of law.

The unit provides protection and security for investments and investors in Jordan.

Upon arrival at the site of the drill, His Majesty was received by Prime Minister Hani Mulki, Interior Minister Samir Mubaideen, Minister of State for Investment Affairs Muhannad Shehadeh, and the directors of the General Intelligence Department, the PSD, the General Directorate of the Gendarmerie, the Civil Defence Directorate, and the Jordan Customs Department.

The King, accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Rashid bin El Hassan, was briefed on the activities involved in the exercise, which included sharpshooting, self-defence, and rappelling from PSD planes.

His Majesty praised the professionalism of PSD personnel and their advanced level in terms of training and equipment, adding that PSD personnel are citizens’ first line of defence and commending their efforts to serve Jordanians and safeguard their rights and freedoms.

On the sidelines of the drill, His Majesty met with PSD Director Maj. Gen. Fadel Hmoud, who presented a briefing on the PSD’s plans to enhance performance and services.

Hmoud said the PSD is committed to protecting investments and maintaining a secure, investment-friendly environment in Jordan, in cooperation with the relevant parties, stressing the importance of these measures for the economy.
