King attends government event marking state centennial
His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday attended an event held by the government to mark Jordan’s state centennial.
During the ceremony, held at the Prime Ministry, King Abdullah bestowed the Order of the State Centennial on a number of national figures in appreciation of their contributions to the advancement and progress of the nation over the past 100 years.
The event, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and a number of senior officials and officers, paid tribute to Jordan’s history, highlighting milestones from the past decades in the progress of both the public and private sectors.
The honouring of national figures follows a number of similar events held earlier this year on the occasion of the state’s centennial.
His Majesty has bestowed Royal medals marking the centennial on veterans of Al Karamah Battle and all the nation’s martyrs, as well as a number of leading figures on Jordan’s 75th Independence Day.
The King also bestowed medals on the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, the Public Security Directorate, the General Intelligence Department, and a number of military and security personnel, on the occasion of the centennial.
