His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), attended a ceremony held on Thursday by JAF at the Martyr’s Memorial to mark Accession to the Throne Day, the Great Arab Revolt anniversary, and Army Day.

Upon arrival, King Abdullah was welcomed with a 21-gun salute and was received by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat and senior officers.

His Majesty laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and recited verses from the Holy Quran. The King also toured the various facilities of the Martyr’s Memorial.

The ceremony, attended by a number of royal family members, also included the screening of a short film on the efforts of JAF and security agencies to protect the country, paying tribute to those who were martyred or injured while defending the Kingdom.

His Majesty bestowed medals on families of a number of martyrs, as well as on several personnel from JAF, the Public Security Directorate, the General Intelligence Department, and the General Directorate of Gendarmerie in recognition of their distinguished efforts and sacrifices to maintain the Kingdom’s security.

Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Hani Mulki, Senate President Faisal Fayez, Speaker of the House of Representatives Atef Tarawneh, and Judicial Council President Mohammad Ghazou attended the ceremony.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Constitutional Court President Taher Hikmat, Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan, a number of the King's advisers, Royal Hashemite Court Secretary General Yousef Issawi, and senior officials and officers were also in attendance.
