His Majesty King Abdullah, accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, met with Canada Governor General David Johnston on Monday, and discussed means to strengthen Jordan and Canada’s strategic partnership, as well as developments in the Middle East.

At the meeting, held at Rideau Hall in Ottawa, King Abdullah and Governor Johnston affirmed the two countries’ keenness to expand cooperation in the economic and investment fields, increase trade exchange, and strengthen collaboration in vocational and technical education.

Discussions covered regional issues, especially the peace process and the Syrian crisis, in addition to efforts to reach political solutions to crises in the region.

The meeting also touched on efforts to fight terrorism within a holistic strategy.

Moreover, the two sides discussed the economic and social burdens shouldered by the Kingdom as it continues to host Syrian refugees.
