King, Abu Dhabi crown prince reaffirm rejection of any unilateral Israeli action to annex West Bank lands

17 June 2020

His Majesty King Abdullah and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi and the deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, in a phone call on Wednesday, discussed bilateral ties and regional developments of mutual concern.

Discussions covered maintaining coordination and consultation on the Palestinian cause, with King Abdullah and Sheikh Mohamed stressing their rejection of any unilateral Israeli measure to annex lands in the West Bank, as it would undermine the prospects of achieving peace and stability in the Middle East.

His Majesty stressed the need to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution, guaranteeing the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and viable Palestinian state on the 4 June 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

For his part, Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed the United Arab Emirates’ full solidarity with Jordan, commending the Kingdom’s historical role in supporting the Palestinian cause.

The crown prince of Abu Dhabi said the UAE stands with Jordan and is working with fellow Arab countries, utilising all political and diplomatic tools, to warn of the danger of annexing Palestinian lands and its implications.
