His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II on Thursday attended the graduation ceremony of participants in the first phase of the Watan Service programme on “national military training and guidance”, held at the Royal Military College

The Watan Service programme is held in partnership with the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) and the Ministry of Labour, and aims to equip youth and hone their skills to enter the labour market.

The trainees receive a four-month training in the industrial, construction, and tourism sectors, in addition to military, professional, and life skills training.

The first phase of the training programme, lasting one month for male trainees, covers military training and national guidance, with the aim of instilling a sense of patriotism and discipline, as well as enhancing participants’ physical fitness.

The second phase, for male and female trainees, lasts for three months and covers hands-on professional training at workshops and laboratories. It also includes entrepreneurship and professional safety and health courses.

The Watan Service programme aims to train 20,000 participants, with 3,000 graduates per cohort.

The 10 highest achieving graduates in each cohort are given priority in army recruitment, and are given priority to apply to the Ministry of Labour’s employment programmes.

The Watan Service programme is implemented with the participation of security agencies, and the ministries of education, higher education, culture, youth, as well as the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development and the private sector.
