His Majesty King Abdullah II on Arab-Israeli relations during an interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria

Fareed Zakaria: Do you expect that more Arab countries will normalise relations with Israel; people are talking about Saudi Arabia being next?

His Majesty King Abdullah II: I don’t know which country is going to be next, but I have noticed the change from Arab countries, that are looking at their national security interest, with their concerns over the shadow of Iran and a lot of the regional challenges; that see the option of having a relationship with Israel in their vested interest. But, again, I think the war was a reality check to all of us, that even though the Abraham Accords may expand, you can’t do it at the expense of the Israeli-Palestinian dialogue and discussions on their future. Abrahamic Accords—great, for the countries that are involved in that, but unless we get back into getting Israelis and Palestinians together, that is going to be two steps forward, one step back.
