NASA Initiative
The NASA Initiative, launched in 2014, offers excelling engineering students at the Kingdom’s universities the opportunity to train at the Ames Research Centre, which is affiliated with the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The initiative seeks to empower young Jordanians and engage them in various global initiatives and projects.
"The outcomes of the scholarships were positive and the Jordanian interns played an effective role"
The initiative is in implementation of the vision of Crown Prince Hussein, emanating from his belief in the need to support students and researchers and give them the opportunity to excel and nurture their sense of creativity. Responding to an invitation from the Crown Prince’s Office, the head of NASA’s Ames Research Centre visited the Kingdom on 11 March 2014. Subsequently, a number of excelling engineering students were selected from Jordanian universities to receive training at NASA’s labs.
NASA’s lab administration selected the four best projects submitted by Jordanian university students to receive training at the Ames Research Centre from September-November 2014.
After the positive outcomes experienced by the students who received the training, and on account of their outstanding projects and active engagement during the visit, the Crown Prince’s Office selected a new batch of students. Their projects were sent to the director of the Ames Research Centre in the summer of 2015, so that they may also have the opportunity to undertake this practical and theoretical experience and gain more knowledge in the process.
