Reasons Behind the King`s Absence from the Summit
27 March 2002
His Majesty King Abdullah II will not attend the Second Arab Summit in Beirut because He has the flu. The King؟s absence from the Summit however, will not prevent Jordan؟s strong support of all Arab Summit discussions and decisions. Jordan strongly supports the Saudi Initiative and all other items on the agenda of the Arab Summit.
King Abdullah entrusted Prime Minister Ali Abu Ragheb to lead the Jordanian delegation to the Summit on His behalf and to deliver His opening speech, as well as to hand over the rotating presidency of the Summit to Lebanese President Emile Lahhoud.
