

Palestinian Ambassador Hails King's Visit to Washington

Palestinian ambassador to Jordan Omar Khatib Thursday expressed appreciation on the intensive and constructive efforts led by His Majesty King Abdullah II during the King's recent visit to Washington, which focused on supporting the Palestinian people's rights and mobilizing popular support to the Palestinian people and their elected leadership.
''We have noticed the visit's outcome and the efforts His Majesty exerted , where the American administration reaffirmed commitment to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, and practiced pressure on the Israeli government to stop its intended aggression against Gaza Strip'', Khatib said in a press statement, of which PETRA received a copy. ''His Majesty has achieved important successes, especially as all of his activities, on the political and diplomatic level, focused on supporting the Palestinian rights and mobilizing popular support to the Palestinian people and their elected and legitimate leadership, and on the necessity to attain the fixed national legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of independent state on their national soil with Jerusalem as its capital,'' Khatib said.
He expressed appreciation on The King؟s intensive and constructive efforts to support the Palestinian people. '' Such efforts, proceeding from the Jordanian brotherly stand, expressed and embodied by His Majesty King Abdullah II, during the intensive contacts and meetings with the American administration, in the forefront President Bush , succeeded in making the Arab stand, as peace is the Arabs' strategic choice, reach destination,'' he affirmed.
His Majesty was successful in convincing the American administration that Arab and Palestinian tendency towards peace is a genuine, sincere and strategic choice, Khatib affirmed. He highlighted His Majesty's meetings with mass media and his strong advocating of the Palestinian issue, the matter which had a very important effect on the American and world public opinion.
