His Majesty King Abdullah II received a phone call on Tuesday from The Gambia President Adama Barrow, whose country is chairing the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)’s 15th session of the Islamic Summit Conference.

The call addressed the repercussions of current escalations in the region and Iran’s attacks on Jordan and a number of Arab countries.

His Majesty emphasised the importance of stepping up international efforts to achieve calm through dialogue and the use of diplomatic channels, and warned of the dangers of exploiting current developments as a pretext to violating the freedom of worshippers to access Al Aqsa Mosque, and changing the status quo in the West Bank and Gaza.

For his part, President Barrow stressed the need for restraint, respect for international law, and protection of civilians in the Middle East.
