

King, Portuguese PM discuss cooperation

His Majesty King Abdullah met with Portuguese Prime Minister Jose Socrates on Tuesday to discuss bilateral cooperation and efforts to start Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations.
At the meeting with Socrates, King Abdullah voiced his keenness to build a strong partnership with Portugal, noting great potential for cooperation, especially in the fields of renewable energy, ICT, pharmaceuticals and tourism.
Discussions also covered developments in the Middle East. The King underlined the need for continued international involvement in efforts to bring about peace in the region.
King Abdullah emphasised the significance of the European and Portuguese role in supporting Israeli-Palestinian conflict resolution according to the two-state solution, which the King said is the sole path to regional security and stability.
Royal Court Chief Nasser Lozi, the King's Advisor Ayman Safadi, Foreign Minster Nasser Judeh, Trade and Industry Minister Amer Hadidi and Jordan's Non-Resident Ambassador to Portugal Dina Kawar also attended the meeting.
