King meets Iraqi prime minister

His Majesty King Abdullah discussed with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki means of boosting cooperation between Jordan and Iraq in various fields.

The King and the Iraqi prime minister, who is leading his country's delegation to the Arab Summit in Doha, said that bilateral relations were moving in the right direction.

The two leaders also emphasised the importance of establishing a partnership to achieve interests of both countries.

King Abdullah affirmed Jordan's support for Iraq's sovereignty and stability and to efforts to enhance its national unity.

During the meeting, attended by Prime Minister Nader Dahabi, Royal Court Chief Nasser Lozi and the King's Advisor Ayman Safadi, the King and Maliki also discussed steps needed to increase cooperation between the two countries in various areas.

Discussions during the meeting, which was also attended by Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari and Trade Minister Abdul Falah Al Sudani, addressed efforts to enhance Arab solidarity and regional issues, including efforts to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East.

In his remarks at the 21st Arab Summit in Doha, the King stressed Jordan's “full support for the political process in Iraq, for the strengthening of inclusive national reconciliation and for the preservation of Iraq's unity, sovereignty and independence."
