

King ends Bahrain visit

His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday ended a visit to Bahrain where he held talks with King Hamad Ben Isa Al Khalifeh on appropriate mechanisms to advance joint cooperation, regional developments and ways to address challenges facing the Arab nation.
During a meeting at the General Command Headquarters of the Bahrain Defence Force, they also discussed means to foster military cooperation.
King Abdullah hailed the quality of bilateral military cooperation and coordination and commended the professionalism of the Bahrain Defence Force.
"The two countries' armed forces constitute a common shield and a pillar of support originating from bilateral vigorous and historic ties," the King said.
King Hamad said that Jordan and Bahrain agreed to enhance military cooperation in different areas, including the exchange of expertise.
The Bahraini monarch hailed Jordan's support for coordination, saying that "cooperation is a matter of strategic interest, and each country provides strategic defensive depth to the other under umbrella of joint Arab cooperation".
King Hamad described ties between the Bahrain Defence Force and Jordan's Armed Forces as "historic and robust" and lauded the Jordan Armed Forces' key role in supporting the Bahrain Defence Force since its establishment.
