Delete - King designates Dr. Abdullah Ensour to form new government

10 October 2012

His Majesty King Abdullah II on Wednesday designated Dr. Abdullah Ensour to form a new government, after accepting the resignation of outgoing Prime Minister Dr. Fayez Tarawneh.
Dr. Tarawneh offered his resignation in line with the recently introduced constitutional amendments, stipulating that the government resign after the dissolution of Parliament.
King Abdullah dissolved Parliament on Thursday, paving the way for early elections.
The newly established Independent Elections Commission is the constitutionally mandated institution to manage and oversee the polls, and set the date of elections.
With the emergence of the upcoming 17th Parliament in the new year, Jordan will start piloting parliamentary governments.
Dr. Abdullah Ensour’s government is the last government before Jordan’s transition to parliamentary governments.
