Crown Prince visits national football team’s training base camp ahead of World Cup

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II visited the national football team at their training base camp in San Diego on Monday, where they are undertaking their final training sessions ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Speaking with the players, the Crown Prince praised their tactical discipline which has played a pivotal role in establishing the national team as star players on the world stage.

His Royal Highness emphasised the importance of following the coach and technical staff’s instructions, keeping in mind the heavy weight of responsibility, which requires high levels of concentration and mental preparation.

The Crown Prince said that all Jordanians stand behind the national football team and are cheering them on, noting the importance of putting on an outstanding performance in their upcoming matches regardless of the result.

The players expressed their immense pride in representing Jordan for the first time at the World Cup, voicing their determination to give their very best in the upcoming matches.

On the sidelines of the training camp visit, His Royal Highness gave a televised interview to beIN Sports, during which he said that the achievements of the national team in recent years provided the impetus to continue developing Jordan’s sporting system. 

During the interview, conducted by beIN Sports correspondent Wafa Soukar, the Crown Prince explained that the confidence and determination demonstrated by the national football team has filled Jordanians with pride, noting the importance of building on the team’s achievements on the international stage, and showcasing Jordanian and Arab cultural identity to a global audience.

In response to a question about the expected performance of Jordan’s football team in upcoming matches, His Royal Highness underscored that the team’s task is not an easy one, but that there is great confidence they will put in a worthy performance, given their high-level physical and mental preparations.

The Crown Prince highlighted the important role of the Prince Ali Grassroots Centres in shaping the current national team, stressing the need to leverage the experience of the current generation and pass it on to the next generation of promising players in order to strengthen Jordan’s footballing culture.

His Royal Highness also expressed his pride in the level of Arab representation at this year’s World Cup, wishing the participating Arab teams every success.
