His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, sent a letter to retired Lt. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, in which he thanked him for his efforts during his tenure as chairman of the joint chiefs of staff.

Following is the English translation of the letter:

“In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

Lieutenant General Yousef Huneiti,

Peace, God’s mercy and blessings be upon you,

You have undertaken the responsibility of chairing the joint chiefs of staff of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army for several years, during which you have been a devoted soldier for our dear Jordan.

You worked during the difficult circumstances facing our region to bolster the capabilities of our brave Armed Forces, in order to enable them to continue their role as a shield for the homeland, while undertaking their humanitarian duty towards brethren in the region.

During your service, you also worked to implement our directives to modernise, develop and restructure our Armed Forces, in order to face current and future threats, while ensuring institutionalism in dealing with various emerging developments that could face the Arab Army.

You spent decades serving our dear Jordan in the Armed Forces, setting an example of dedicated military service and showing great keenness to ably uphold your responsibilities, and today, you complete your mission and leave your position after adeptly performing your duties, so that you may take time to rest or move on to another position of service.

I extend my deep thanks and appreciation for your dedicated efforts and exceptional performance, and wish you continued success. I pray that God preserve and protect you and enable us all to serve Jordan and its people.

Peace, God’s mercy and blessings be upon you.

Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein

Amman, 2 September 2026”
