His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday received Egypt Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, France Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and European Union Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process Susanna Terstal.

King Abdullah stressed the importance of maintaining coordination on issues of mutual concern, foremost of which are efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East and reach political solutions to regional crises.

His Majesty reaffirmed Jordan’s unwavering position on the Palestinian cause, and the need to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution, guaranteeing the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and viable Palestinian state, on the 4 June 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living side by side with Israel, in peace and security.

The King also noted the key European role in this regard.

The visit by the foreign ministers of Egypt and France, and the EU special representative, is in line with continued coordination and consultation on the Palestinian cause, and efforts to resume Palestinian-Israeli negotiations to end the conflict.

Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Adviser to His Majesty for Policies Bisher Khasawneh attended the meeting.
