21 October 2018

His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday received Chairperson of the US House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Middle East and North Africa Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Florida), and an accompanying delegation at Al Husseiniya Palace.

At the meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Prince Feisal bin Al Hussein, discussions covered the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States, as well as means to expand joint cooperation in various fields.

King Abdullah commended Representative Ros-Lehtinen’s efforts to bolster the ties of cooperation and friendship between the two countries, as well as her positions in support of Jordan.

Discussions addressed a number of regional concerns, foremost of which was the peace process. His Majesty stressed the need to step up efforts to relaunch Palestinian-Israeli negotiations to reach a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution, leading to establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The meeting also touched on developments in the Syrian crisis, as well as the Syrian refugee burden’s impact on Jordan’s economy and its limited resources.

Representative Ros-Lehtinen praised the King’s efforts in pursuit of peace and stability in the region.

Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas, and US Chargé d’Affaires in Amman Paul Malik attended the meeting.
