King meets representatives of Palestinian refugee camps

7 November 2018

His Majesty King Abdullah met with representatives of Palestinian refugee camps on Wednesday at the Royal Hashemite Court.

Discussions covered domestic and regional concerns, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause.

King Abdullah reaffirmed that the Palestinian issue is Jordan’s first cause, noting the country’s unwavering position, which is known to all and is a duty and an honour.

Discussing domestic issues, His Majesty acknowledged the challenges Jordanians face due to economic conditions, poverty and unemployment, which demand creating a programme to provide job opportunities and attract investments to the Kingdom’s various regions, while also developing infrastructure.

The King stressed the importance of cooperation among state institutions to alleviate the impact of challenges and burdens facing the camps.

His Majesty directed the concerned officials at the Royal Hashemite Court to visit all Palestinian refugee camps to check on their needs and identify the challenges they face.

Speaking at the meeting, the camp representatives expressed appreciation for the King’s leadership and major efforts to support the Palestinian people in seeking their just and legitimate rights.

They also commended the historical and religious role of Jordan, led by His Majesty, in defending Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, in line with the Hashemite Custodianship.
