21 August 2019

His Majesty King Abdullah met with a delegation of US Congress staffers on Wednesday at Al Husseiniya Palace to discuss cooperation and the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States, as well as the latest regional developments.

During the meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Prince Feisal bin Al Hussein, King Abdullah expressed Jordan's appreciation for the support provided by the United States to various development programmes, emphasising the important role of Congress in this regard.

Discussing efforts to end the stalemate in the peace process, His Majesty stressed the need to step up efforts to achieve just, comprehensive and lasting peace on the basis of the two-state solution, which guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 4 June 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The meeting also covered efforts to reach political solutions to regional crises, as well as regional and international efforts to counter terrorism within a holistic approach.

For their part, the congressional delegation expressed appreciation for Jordan’s role, led by His Majesty, in promoting peace and stability in the region and dealing with the current regional conditions.

Adviser to His Majesty for Communication and Coordination Bisher Khasawneh, Adviser to His Majesty for Policies and Media Kemal Al Nasser, and Jordan’s Ambassador in Washington, DC, Dina Kawar attended the meeting.
