His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday called for benefiting from national expertise in various fields, urging coordination and collaborative work among public, private and civil society institutions to identify political, economic, and social priorities for the coming phase while offering solutions to challenges facing Jordan.

During a meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace with the president and members of the Amman Group for Future Dialogues, which includes experts in economic, political, social, and educational sectors, King Abdullah stressed the importance of translating ideas and constructive studies conducted by experts into realistic programmes.

The meeting, held as part of ongoing outreach to various segments of society, covered a number of domestic issues, including current economic conditions. His Majesty said he is confident Jordan will be able to overcome challenges with the cooperation of all.

The King affirmed the need to tap into economic and trade opportunities with neighbouring states while focusing on improving Jordanians’ standard of living and the services they receive, in addition to enhancing public administration and combating poverty and unemployment.

His Majesty reiterated that plans, policies and strategies to develop political, economic, and social conditions should be clearly explained to the public, noting the importance of the government’s cooperation with the private sector, Parliament, professional associations, and civil society organisations for this purpose.

Calling for identifying the sectors that must be the focus of efforts to stimulate economic growth, the King affirmed that Jordan is moving ahead with political reform.

For his part, Bilal Tal, the founder and president of the Amman Group for Future Dialogues, said the group works to counter negative phenomena in society and proposes solutions to challenges facing the country.

Other members of the group said Jordan has always been able to weather difficulties, calling for building trust in state institutions and promoting optimism rather than undermining achievements.

They also stressed the importance of promoting Jordan’s investment climate, increasing women’s contribution to the economy, and investing in education.

The Amman Group for Future Dialogues members called for developing the industry sector, investing in renewable energy and transport, and developing the services sector.

They urged focus on upholding the rule of law, addressing community violence, and maintaining transparency.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi and Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas attended the meeting.
