King inaugurates buildings of gendarmerie northern command

His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, on Monday inaugurated the buildings of the General Directorate of the Gendarmerie’s northern command in Irbid Governorate.

King Abdullah was received by General Directorate of the Gendarmerie Director Maj. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh at the site of the buildings, which house various facilities, including training grounds, a gym, and a mosque.

His Majesty also met with Hawatmeh and discussed a number of security and administrative issues related to the work of the gendarmerie directorate.

The King was briefed on the directorate’s key development and modernisation plans, aimed at safeguarding the security of citizens and residents around the Kingdom.

In addition, His Majesty observed an exercise that demonstrated the preparedness of gendarmerie formations to respond to emergencies efficiently and professionally.

The King praised the advanced level of the gendarmerie forces, in terms of armament and training, commending the personnel’s high morale.

The new buildings inaugurated Monday are in line with the directorate’s 2015-2020 strategy to enhance performance within a decentralised framework to ensure safeguarding the security of all urban, economic, and tourist-related facilities around the Kingdom.
