The National Centre for Human Rights
The National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) was established by virtue of a law in 2002 to help realize the Royal vision to safeguard human rights and public freedoms in Jordan. The center’s vision is based on the provisions of the Jordanian Constitution stipulating that human rights are protected, echoing articles in relevant international conventions.
"The center’s vision is based on the provisions of the Jordanian Constitution stipulating that human rights are protected, echoing articles in relevant international conventions"
The NCHR’s vision is to establish a society where justice, equality, and rule of law prevail, to safeguard the dignity of individuals and to protect public freedoms and citizens’ right to a society that guarantees brotherhood, tolerance, and solidarity among all the members of the one Jordanian family.
The center identified its mission as to protect human rights, promote its culture, monitor its status, provide legal consultations and assistance for those who need them, handle complaints and observe human rights violations with a view to end them and eliminate their effects.
It also works to conduct studies and research, provide information, hold symposiums and training courses, run campaigns, issue position papers, statements and publications and compile the necessary reports.
